and a happy new year to you

Here we are, a good week into 2008. Yes, it’s a late New Year’s post, and I don’t really care. I was having a conversation with a friend about New Year’s resolutions, and what mine would be. I came up with the perfect one…. for everyone. I will resolute to break my New Year’s resolution… everyone wins!

In all seriousness, it’s interesting we like to do this whole ordeal. And it’s usually something idealistic and very hard to reach without some serious dedication. Is that an indication of me/people being lazy? Partially. But I think it also has to do with time. Everyone seems short on it, they lose focus on this whole idea of a resolution.

So why not do something small. Want to quit smoking? Cut back instead. Lose weight? drop your 3x a day soda habit to 1x. Work from there. Yeah yeah, easier said than done. But it beats going cold turkey and expecting yourself to change overnight. Or make more realistic expectations.

On a similar note, it makes more sense to me we’d do these things on our birthdays, as more of a personal reflection. But maybe I’m just odd.

I’ll end that my goal is simply to take more photos and hopefully get better at it, specifically in the “thinking about lighting” arena. Yeah, I made a goal too despite my opinion. Might as well, it’s not like it’s anything new, heh.
