shopping madness

Ok, not to continually jump on this whole shopping holiday theme, but I was just made aware of “Green Monday.” It is supposedly the biggest online shopping day for the holiday season. Well, for ebay anyway. That’s who apparently coined the term.

Did we really need this? Yet another instance to show how crazy we are in spending during the holidays? Do we really need “the holiday’s” as a mask for our insane spending? We have Black Friday already, with people trampling other people to save a few bucks. Then came Cyber Monday…the Monday following Black Friday.. to kick off online shopping, as if it were really any different.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m as guilty as the next person when it comes to spending money, but this is getting ridiculous. At least I’m not disguising my purchases through the holidays. Actually, I’d be more curious as how the money is distributed. Are people really spending more… or is it just the wealthier folks dishing out more cash? Cause given the whole sub-prime fiasco, and how it’s affected sooo many people, you’d think it’d put a kink into the holiday rush.

merry christmas eve

Hey Santa, I can I have my student loans cleared? That’s all I want… it’ll save you from one trip to my place this year…

With that said, Merry Christmas. Even though I’m not Christian. And maybe you aren’t either. But who the hell cares… is it really a religious holiday anymore? I mean, it marks a whole season for shopping… yeah, that’s right, shopping. Everyone is so concerned on getting gifts for their friend’s and family, will they like it, will they re-gift it, is a gift card too cheesy (which I’ll have another post for)…

What the hell happened? It gets worse every year. And I bet I’ll have the same complaint if this blog still exists in a year. I mean, really, what’s the point of all this gift giving? I thought there was suppose to be more of a connection thing or something… I dunno, I’m not religious, but it just doesn’t seem right.

I mean, I don’t really mind the small gift here and there… maybe something like white elephant get togethers. But some of the giving and receiving is just ridiculous. One might call me selfish, but I don’t really give anyone anything. Cept maybe Mom.

But that’s all I have to say. The benefit is turkey is pushed around and it’s an excuse to actually make one. It’ll be tasty.
